Check out the poll to the Right
Our anatomy ultrasound is scheduled in two weeks and we have the opportunity to learn what gender our little baby will be! Take a moment and pick your choice on the poll to the right!
Week 18
I feel relatively "bigger" this week. Not really in terms of belly size, but I can tell that my clothes are fitting differently. My pants don't fit my legs as well anymore and even my sweat pants are growing very uncomfortable. Goal for today is to find pajamas and sweat pants to purchase because I don't think I can live in the leggings that I bought 24/7. No other new changes. I do have a baby doctor appointment tomorrow for my monthly checkup. It is the best thing to hear that heartbeat again! And I'm also anxiously awaiting when I can feel this little baby move. I know that I should be able to feel it between now and the next couple of weeks. That will definitely be a new post when I can share with all of you how that feels!
As for the baby's weekly development update:
As your growing uterus starts shifting your center of gravity (belly forward, bottom out, hormones are causing your ligaments to relax and joints to loosen. The result? Back pain and soreness. On the bright side, if you want to know your baby's gender, this might be your first week for a sneak peak.
Baby has become amazingly mobile (compared to you, at least), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking, and swallowing. And baby is finally big enough that you'll soon be able to feel her movements. Head to rump, your baby is approximately 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and weights almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs - movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead.

A Visit with Great Friends
Joe and I were thrilled when we got a phone call from our friends Erik and Sherri Losby a couple of weeks ago! They were looking to come and visit for a few days while Erik did some Field visits with Joe. We were thrilled! We met Erik and Sherri when we lived in North Carolina as Joe and Erik both worked for the same division of Newell Rubbermaid. All of us roughly moved around the same time; Joe and I moved to Pennsylvania and Erik and Sherri returned to Milwaukee. We don't get to see each other very often and they have become two of our closest friends, so it was such a thrill to hear that they were taking a ROAD TRIP to PA!! Since Wednesday, our house has been filled with a lot of laughter, good food and great memories! They didn't quite pick a "warm" location to visit for their short vacation, as it snowed their trip in and each day after...of course until today when they left! At least we had some fun activities to do while they were here.
Friday night, Joe bought tickets to see comedian, Lewis Black! We drove up to Scranton for the evening and enjoyed rip roaring laughter for a couple of hours! It was a great event to share with friends. I have never been to comic show...and I will definitely say that I hope it won't be my last. I'm not sure if I have ever laughed so hard in my life! Thank you Joe for such an eventful evening! It was a great time!
Yesterday was Joe's nephew's birthday party. It's crazy to think that Mason is three already! We stopped by for his Toy Story themed birthday party and got to enjoy the company of family and friends and a drink or two ;) After dinner, we headed home to spend our last few moments with the Losby's before they headed out at the wee hours of morning. Although I failed to get any photographs at Mason's party, I snapped a shot from Thursday night when Alison and Mason dropped by. Mason was "working" with Uncle Joe and Erik in the garage putting away the Christmas tree! He is such a doll!
Just wanted to say Thank you to Sherri and Erik for reminding us what great friends we have and what a wonderful time we have when we are in your company! OH...and a special thank you to Erik for helping Joe put away our Christmas tree! I didn't mean to put him to work, but he was willing to help...so THANK YOU! We hope to see you soon!!!
Oops.....I forgot to mention that they came with their two Pugs in tow. Sherri got quite a few cute pics of all of us including the pups during the their trip, but here is one that just warmed my heart!

Is it really the end of Week 17?
What a nasty and cold week! I think Joe had to shovel snow four times this week and we are expected to get more this weekend and during the week! Ugh...it is summer yet? Wait..not ready for summer yet because I am no where near ready for a baby to arrive! So..it is spring yet?
Other than it being cold and miserable, I once again don't have much to talk about. I'm in that weird stage of not really feeling pregnant, but I'm starting to look like it. It's nice to transition from that fat and awkward bloated stage to the nice "little" belly pregnancy stage. I'm sure things will change when I'm eight months pregnant and can barely walk from my house to the car (at least that is what I am envisioning.) It feels as though I'm also more in the research mode as well. Trying to read as much as I can and share with Joe so we both feel as prepared as possible. One of the most amazing things is the instinct and insecurities that I have taken on in the last few weeks. It feels as though every thought I have now involves the decision process involving a child and it amazes my how quickly that came over me. You feel like you understand your friends and relatives when they are pregnant and ask questions and are seeking answers themselves, until you are in the same situation and feel as though the some of the only people that can answer your questions are those women in your life that have been pregnant. Not that I don't trust and listen to my friends that don't have children...it's just a different complexity of understanding your own dilemmas and seeking the best advice and information possible while sorting through all of the information out there. Whew......I guess this is welcome to the world of being a mom!
So onto some fun items. My friend Amy told me that since I started my belly book I must continue it since I am taking pictures weekly. So this is the "progress" of my bulging belly over the last two weeks. I don't really see much of a difference in size, but the scale seems to think otherwise...ugh! Should have left those dead batteries in there! The weight gain doesn't really both me as long as I stay in a healthy range...but not weighing myself for a couple of weeks and then jumping on after I replaced the batteries...NOT.A.GOOD.IDEA!
And now for a developmental update:
The baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone and the umbilical cord is growing stronger and thicker. She weighs about 5 ounces and is about 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints and her sweat glands are starting to develop as well as her little fingers and toes have one-of-a-kind prints.

Its Definitely in The Water
It's funny how in life you go through different stages with your friends. From high school to college. Then it's engagements and weddings. (I think we had 11 weddings last year.) And now we are officially entering the baby boom stage. Once Joe and I announced that we were expecting, it seems as though everyone and their sisters are expecting too. There were so many people announcing that they were pregnant that I had to make a list...and I came up with 19 couples that I knew that are expecting from now until July. That's not including a few people that Joe knows...so the list just keeps climbing. So here is to all of the mommies and daddies out there:
"A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for."
Congratulations to all of the new and SOON to be new parents! It's going to be a crazy year :)

Week 16
Another week has come and gone. This is mainly just a developmental progress report :)
My update this week included that we should: Watch what we say...tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean she can now pick up your voice. A few more minuscule changes: Eyebrows, lashes, and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will DOUBLE HIS WEIGHT AND ADD INCHES TO HIS LENGTH!!! Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed , his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position too!!

First Belly Bump Pictures
I've been torn about when the appropriate time is to start posting baby bump pictures because I wasn't sure what I had was a bloated belly or an actual baby bump. Well I took a look over the last five weeks pictures and I don't think that I am able to hide it much longer. So, here you go...this is a progression of what the last five weeks look like (minus week 12.)

Week 15
Not much to talk about this week. We had another baby doctor appointment and got to hear the heartbeat again. It was a healthy 154 bpm. It's such an amazing thing to hear as it solidifies to me that there is a baby growing inside me. Our next ultrasound will be in February when we can decide if we want to find out if we are having a boy or a girl! Still haven't fully decided yet :) If it weren't for the doctor's appointment, the other "items" reminding on a daily basis that I am pregnant are two very prominent pregnancy symptoms: sleeping and congestion! I feel like I have a sinus infection about 22 hours out of every day, which doesn't help at night when I'm trying to sleep. I can't seem to get comfortable anymore and the congestion doesn't allow me to breath very well! So, if anyone has any good remedies for either...I am all ears! I'm sure Joe would enjoy a good night's sleep where I am not tossing and turning every 10 minutes!
This weekend has been off to a great start! Joe and I drove to Philadelphia yesterday to see the Flyers play. I'm happy to report that we saw yet another victory against the New Jersey Devils! And after the game, Joe dropped me off to spend the evening with my sister-in-law and her bridesmaid party to pick out bridesmaid dresses! It was a great evening and it was nice to meet some of Cristin's friends!
Today was an usual Sunday afternoon. We hung around this morning, did some cleaning this afternoon and went to dinner at Lucky's to watch some football in the evening! It's one of our favorite places to go and we quite enjoy the food and atmosphere. So that's all folks! Another week down!
Oh...and not to ease up on my up-to-date postings. This does mark Week 15: Baby now measures about 4 inches long and weights in at about 2 1/2 ounces. She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which heps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and he can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. (and no we will not be trying that :)

Happy New Year
Wow! Is it really 2011 already? It's amazing how time just starts to fly by! It seems like yesterday that Joe and I got engaged and to think that we are married with a child on the way is a little bewildering at times!!
This weekend went rather quickly, but of course that's because we had so much fun!! Friday, we went to my sister-in-law and future brother-in-laws house to kick off the New Years weekend with the Peeps 5K race! Yes...as you all know...I am not a runner, so of course I walked it! But the great thing about the race was taking the dogs!! It was a riot! They should have been Peeps Greeters or something! Everyone loved the dogs...they got so much attention! I had to watch myself because people would put their hands out to pet Abbie and she would take off to go and see them!! Well...I didn't prepare myself well enough for when the race actually began! As soon as everyone started running...Abbie and Caleigh wanted to run it too! So off we all went! Abbie and Joe actually ran a lot of the race because Abbie wanted to GO!GO!GO!
Since we burned all of those calories in the morning, we had reservations for a great dinner at the Melting Pot in Bethlehem! It was delicious! I loved the whole thing, but the cheese and chocolate fondues were amazing! We all made it to midnight to ring in the New Year! Bring on 2011!!
Today was a nice and relaxing day! Joe and I just decided to enjoy the day! But the mornings started off with catching up with old friends!! First I talked with a great friend that I had lost touch with over the last year and then I got to talk with a couple of my best friends this morning via SKYPE! What an incredible form of technology! Joe got me a laptop for Christmas that has SKYPE built into it and so this morning, I got to chat with Marie & the Triplets and Erin & the twins! What a great way to start off the morning and 2011!!
Also this weekend marks our 14th Week! We are just moving along! Some interesting developments for the baby this week are that the baby can now squint, frown, grimace, and possibly suck its thumb!
