I"m sitting here doing work and it dawns on me....Erin turned 7 months old today and I haven't posted anything in AGES!!! It makes me sad when I log online and I haven't posted anything. Yes, we are super busy and Erin is changing every day, I just don't seem to think about blogging when all is said and done every day. And here I am, realizing that my child has just reached another month milestone and I didn't even remember. What kind of mother am I? Yes, that means that I will be in search of an amazing outfit for her monthly photo op tomorrow!
It has been a very busy month. I wish I could say that we have done a lot...but heck! I can't even remember what we have done.
We did have a few illnesses that really made our household fall for a few days. Erin caught a bug at daycare and let me say that it was by far something that I never want my child to experience ever again. It would seriously take paragraphs to describe to you how bad it was, but I'll try to keep it to the point. She developed a bug that gave her diarrhea. This made her have many, many dirty diapers throughout the day (at which I had sent her to daycare not realizing how bad it was!) When I picked her up, she started crying and continued until I took her upstairs only to see that she had developed a raw and blistered bottom from all of the dirty diapers. This lasted for about 5 days. Fevers.Dirty Diapers. No Sleep. No fun. Every time she had a dirty diaper, we had to get a bath because her bottom was too raw to wipe. It was horrible.
THEN...two weeks later, Joe and I came down with food poisoning and we found out Erin had another ear infection. All in the same day. We were a disaster. Thankfully, I'm hoping that February is a new month with far fewer sicknesses in our household. I guess I do have somewhat of a reason for not keeping up with everything.
So, off for now and I"ll post a few pics. Promise.

Big Girl
As I mentioned, we took a short walk to visit Aunt Marion this afternoon to show off Erin's new Steelers jersey. Well, Daddy bought Erin a new car seat (Britax convertible car seat) because she is just getting a tad too big and heavy for her infant car seat. She also has been sitting in a high chair for the last week too. I decided for our walk to just sit her in the stroller. Boy was she thrilled! She held on to the sides and talked all the way there and back. I think she is going to start to enjoy walks on a whole new level!
Let's Go Steelers
During our run with fantasy football this fall/winter, Joe and I noticed that our daughter had this unusual attachment to the Pittsburgh Steelers when they were on television. We would laugh at how attentive she got and how she would sit and literally watch the game. At first, we thought it was fluke, but week after week, she would sit and watch the Black and Gold or the "Bees" as we have nicknamed them.
Neither of us have a favorite NHL team, so we find it funny that she would pick 1. a Pennsylvania team and 2. Actually like professional football. It also just so happens to be our Aunt Marion's favorite team as well.
This past weekend, we found a Steelers Jersey while we were out shopping and thought it to be pretty fitting for our little Steeler's fan. Sure enough, she watched with intent and enjoyed her Sunday night football. (even if they did lose!) Since Aunt Marion lives in our development, we took a short walk down to visit and show off her new outfit!

6 months Old
Yep! I say it every month. Can you believe Erin is 6 months old already? Time is flying by and I wish I could just slow it down just a little bit!
We are moving in the fast lane. Erin is now able to roll over, sit up by herself and officially has 2 teeth. We know she has two more that are ready to come in any time now. She had developed such a personality and we are loving every minute of every day with her. It's amazing to watch her discover new things. Her laughter fills our day with Joy. (Although teething at night - I could do without!)
She has the most addicting smile and lights up to any person that will glance her way. When Joe walks in the room, she gives him the huge gummy grin and giggles in delightment to see her daddy! Erin definitely loves snuggle time with her mommy. She will do anything to get me to snuggle with her on the couch! I'm trying to enjoy this time as long as possible, because I'm sure that this will pass over time.
Overall, another month and more milestones have passed. We will have to see what this month brings.

I forgot about Thanksgiving!
I was going back through all of my pictures and the sudden anxiety of all of things I haven't posted about came over me! Then I realized that I forgot to post about Thanksgiving! WTH!! How did I forget about that one! We opted to make the trek to Ohio for Thanksgiving. The thought of driving 8+ hours with a 5 month old seemed ever so daunting! I mean - I barely get to the food store and back without a feeding, dirty diaper, CRYING (me or the child) that I couldn't even imagine driving all that way without either Joe or myself breaking down.
My best friend Jamie was going to be home from Phoenix visiting family and my other best friend Marie has not met Erin yet. Joe and I put together a plan and a road trip fell into place. We would leave very early in the morning (hope for a sleepy baby), head to Cleveland. Make a pit stop with the Berlin/Westle clan. Have a nice bottle, clean pants and stretch our legs then hit the road again and head to Columbus. Spend some time with the Thornhills and head to Eaton early the next morning. This would allow us to break up our trip and get the most out of seeing everyone without making our poor infant sit in a car seat for hours.
It was amazing getting to spend some time with my friends that I don't get to see very often! I wish I had more hours and frequent flier miles to see everyone. I still missed a few other friends as our was too short. We visited with Jamie, her parents, brother & sister-in-law and her new niece, Sura. It was amazing to see another baby so tiny! I already don't remember Erin being that small. Columbus made for some fun times as the Thornhill gang is always a blast. The three triplets saw a nice life size doll baby to play with! But as always, they were wonderful and our visit was too short. Hopefully we will be able to see them all again soon!
On Thursday morning, before we headed to Eaton, we made a quick run through campus to see all of the changes since our last visit. Of course, the new Ohio Union was first on our list and I was able to score a great family photo with Brutus! I hope that my daughter appreciates Ohio State as much as I do (even though she was fast asleep through the whole experience!) Then off to Eaton we went to my parents house. We got to visit with the whole family and they all got to meet the new addition. We spent the whole day there and unfortunately weren't able to stay longer as we had plans to do a 5K that weekend and didn't want to sit in the car the entire next day. So we headed back to Columbus late that night and headed back home the next day. Although it was a short visit, I think everyone enjoyed it! I have to say - we sure had a trooper of a daughter. 16 hours in the car and only one fussy (ok - all out screaming fit!) I can honestly say it was wonderful visiting with everyone (although we hit pure exhaustion upon our return.) Not sure how long it will be before we opt to make that journey again.

Happy New Year
2011 was an exciting year for the Cavanaughs. Enjoying being newlyweds, experiencing pregnancy, welcoming our beautiful daughter in to the world and enjoying all of the firsts that come along with parenting. We can only begin to see what the year 2012 has in store for us.
We wish you all a year of health, wealth and happiness!
Peeps 5K
If you remember from last New Year's Eve, Joe and I did a 5K race with my sister and brother-in-law down in their hometown. Well, a year has come and gone and we headed back down for the Peeps 5K race for 2011. I was about 3 months pregnant last year, so it was definitely a different change of pace this year. Let's not forget, that this year, it was a whopping 50 degrees OUTSIDE!!!
Stroller in tow, the 5 of us headed downtown and enjoyed the festivities and waited for the race to start. In case you were wondering, the candy "Peeps" are made in downtown Bethlehem, hence the title of the race.
Joe decided he was going to be the one to push the stroller and Cristina and I decided to "walk" with Joe and Erin. We had a few spurts of running and finished the race under 40 minutes. I know - maybe that doesn't sound like such a quick time, but for never running and finishing the last race over 50 minutes - I was pretty happy with my personal best :)
After the race, we enjoyed a nice lunch and then headed back to Cristin and Brian's house to celebrate the New Year!!!
